“Lily Putt” - A BIG fundraiser for a Beautiful Little Lady & her Ronald McDonald House

Lily is one special lady!  She has touched many lives in her short 17 months of life.  Lily was born with a very rare heart condition.   In September, 2007 at four months of age, Lily had open heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic.  During Lily’s hospitalization and recovery, her mom Allison and dad Dustin called the Ronald McDonald House their “home away from home”.

“We cannot begin to put into words our gratitude and thanks for this wonderful place.  The Ronald McDonald House was such a comfort for us.  They truly help people just out of the goodness of their hearts.  They respected our privacy and gave us the closest comforts of home several hundred miles away.”

On October 11th, Lily’s family held the 2nd annual “Lily Putt” 4-person best shot golf tournament.  The event raised funds to help with Lily’s ever mounting medical expenses and this year, to support our Ronald McDonald House.

On November 3rd, Lily, along with her mom and dad, visited the Ronald McDonald House personally and presented a check for over $3,500!  These funds will help many other families who struggle through similar difficult challenges.

The Ronald McDonald House extends heartfelt thanks to Lily’s Grandma “Lu Lu” and her beautiful family for their generosity and compassion.  Their gift will help many other children and their families.

BOO!

The Ronald McDonald House was quite a spooky place this Halloween.  Child Life Specialist Amy Olson organized a huge celebration and the staff and volunteers joined in on the fun!  Children and families were treated to a day of activities, including an all ages haunted fun house, pizza party and of course, trick or treating!  Amy, thank you for all your hard work and great ideas – we can’t wait for next year!

Cans for Kids

The Fall Cans for Kids drive was another great success!  Donors contributed over 1,174 lbs of aluminum, raising over $645! All the funds help the families who will call us home this year!  Thank you to all who donated cans and tabs.  Schools and community groups, keep collecting those cans and mark your calendars for the winter collection day on Saturday, January 31.

Miranda & Kenny had a great time helping their dad Craig donate cans at the fall Cans for Kids event.

Thank You Guenthner, Larson & Kim Orthodontics!

The staff at Guenthner, Larson & Kim Orthodontics put out a challenge to their patients to bring in Wish List items for the Ronald McDonald House.  With each donated item was a chance to win one of three iPod Shuffle's.  The result was amazing!  HouseWarmer, Jeff Cabalka picked up several boxes of Wish List items including paper products, food items and gift cards.  He was able to thank the staff and draw the names of the prize winners.  Their support for the House is greatly appreciated.
