Santas on the Run

Last Sunday, nearly 500 runners and walkers laced up their sneakers and stepped into their Santa suit for Rochester’s first-ever Santas on the Run 5K. The Sheels Med City Marathon event raised $2,330 towards holiday gifts for children and families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester, Minnesota. Registration included a Santa costume and $10 gift card to A Child’s Kingdom. Participants had the option to donate their gift card to the House. Jingle bells were also sold and proceeds were donated to the House. All donations raised from the event will be used towards purchasing gifts from the A Child’s Kingdom Ronald McDonald House holiday wish list.

“The first year event was well received by all. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the runners who chose to help out the Rochester Ronald McDonald House by donating their gift cards. We personally can’t give back as much as we’d like to but by virtue of the Med City event line up we are able to bring a little joy and sunshine into the kids at the House.”

Ronald McDonald himself kicked off the event by singing the ever-so-fitting song “Here Comes Santa Claus”. Thank you to everyone who participated! Watch our video of the event below.
