After years of planning we have secured adjacent parcels of land and developed a plan that allows us to preserve our current home, expand our footprint and serve hundreds more families every year.
We have been turning too many families and children away for far too long. On average the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester, MN serves nearly 900 families every year from across the country and around the world. In 2016, over 1,000 families were turned away because the House was full. Over the past three years alone, more than 3,000 families have been turned away because of capacity constraints.
Our expansion plans include:
- 30 new guest rooms
- Small indoor gym for active space
- Indoor and outdoor play areas for children and families who need wellness space
- Underground parking for guest families – affording easy access out of the brutal winter weather and hot summers for children with compromised immune systems.
- Rooftop and street level green space for play and recuperation
- The most modern construction available
About the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation
The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation (RMSFF) was created in 2004 by Best Buy® founder, Dick Schulze, as a way to give back to the community where Dick and his family grew up and where he built Best Buy to become the world’s largest consumer electronics retailer. Schulze and his family believe that a good education, a supportive family and a strong work ethic prepare children for a successful future. To support that belief, it supports organizations operating in the areas of human and social services, education, including scholarship awards to graduating students from eligible high schools, and health and medicine.
