What’s different about the donation experience at the Ronald McDonald House this holiday season?
Each year, House staff and volunteers look forward to welcoming donors and groups to see the impact their generosity has on children and families. This year, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety of guests, volunteers, and donors is the top priority. Out of an abundance of caution, all donations dropped off this holiday season will be contactless and outside visitors will not be permitted inside the House. Please consider other ways to support the House that minimize contact, such as donating online or having items delivered from the Holiday Wish List or Seasonal Needs List.
How can I support the Ronald McDonald House from afar?
Supporting the House from home is the safest option! You can make a financial gift online or order items to be shipped directly from the House Amazon Wish List or Target Charity Registry. You can also purchase items from ABC & Toy Zone and leave the items there to be delivered directly to the House. Gift cards to local restaurants, grocery stores, and gas stations are another highly requested item that can be mailed to the House (850 2nd St. SW, Rochester, MN, 55902).
What safety precautions are in place? Do I need to wear a mask?
All donations will be contactless. Donors must wear a mask while making a donation. Please do not come to the Ronald McDonald House if you are experiencing a fever, cold, or flu-like symptoms, have recently tested positive for COVID-19, have been exposed to someone who has test positive for COVID-19, or have been asked to quarantine.
I want to donate new toys, non-perishable food items, or supplies. How do I do a contactless drop-off?
Pull up to the main entry of the House and ring the doorbell located on the pillar to the right of the door. A Ronald McDonald House staff member will greet you and let you into the front vestibule. Carts will be available for you to use and leave your donation on. You can save time and minimize contact by filling out a receipt ahead of time. Please print one copy for your records and leave another with your donation. If you are unable to print a receipt, one will be available for you to fill out when you arrive. Due to COVID-19, staff are unable to help with unloading donations.
I want to make a financial contribution. How do I do a contactless drop-off?
You can make a financial contribution from home by mailing it to the Ronald McDonald House (850 2nd St. SW, Rochester, MN 55902) or online. If you prefer a contactless drop-off, pull up to the main entry of the House and ring the doorbell located on the pillar to the right of the door. A Ronald McDonald House staff member will greet you and let you into the front vestibule. Fill out a donation envelope and drop your gift in the box. You can save time and minimize contact by filling out a donation form ahead of time and printing it off.
Can I get a tour of the Ronald McDonald House?
Unfortunately, the Ronald McDonald House cannot accommodate tours this holiday season.
When can you accept donations? Do I need to call to schedule my donation?
Donations can be dropped off at the House, seven days a week, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. No notice is necessary. To schedule a large donation, please call 507-282-3955 or email Development Director Jamie Bingner.
Are you accepting donations of masks?
Thanks to the generosity of the community, the House is currently well-stocked and unable to accept masks at this time.
Do toys have to be new? Should I wrap them?
To ensure the health and well-being of the children we serve, the House is only able to accept new, unwrapped toys.
What are your most-needed items? Are there items you cannot accept?

Can I purchase items for a specific family or meet the family who will be receiving my donation?
To best support the needs of the thousands of families the House serves each year, donors are unable to purchase items for specific children or families. To protect the safety and privacy of guests, the House cannot share personal information about gifts and recipients. Read stories of families whose lives have been impacted by the House on its blog.
My group is interested in volunteering; is there anything we can do off-site?

Are you still accepting pop tabs? What about pop cans?
My organization wants to have a wish list drive or fundraiser for the House; what do I need to know?
The House is so grateful that you want to host a fundraiser or wish list drive. Please follow local recommendations to hold your event safely. SHOP LOCAL! The House is thrilled to partner with ABC & Toy Zone again this year. You can drop off your new, unwrapped toys at ABC & Toy Zone (122 17th Ave. NW, Rochester, MN 55901).
Holiday Wish List
Each December, the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester provides gifts for kids at the House to give to their parents, and parents at the House to give to their children. These complimentary gifts alleviate the stress and health risk of shopping in stores and relieves the financial burden during the holiday season while families are focusing on a child with illness.

The House encourages you to shop local or online through AmazonSmile – if you select Ronald McDonald House of Rochester, MN as your charity of choice, Amazon will donate a percentage of your sale to the House.

Seasonal Needs List
The Seasonal Needs List includes items the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester currently needs to help make our House a welcoming home.
Save up your aluminum pull tabs and donate them to the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester. Pop tab donations add up and generate $10,000-$15,000 for the children and families we serve each year. It’s so easy…anyone can do it!
Thank you for thinking of the children and families at the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester! Following a best practice change to ensure the health and well-being of the children, the House is no longer able to accept the following items:
- new or used plush items, such as stuffed animals and Beanie Babies
- used toys
- used books
- open scrapbooking and craft supplies
- unused or leftover fabric
- medical equipment

Due to the health concerns of the children staying at the House, items donated cannot be homemade and need to be brand new, unexpired and in original packaging. If you are purchasing paper goods, please consider purchasing eco-friendly or biodegradable paper materials.
