If you are coming with a large donation or as a group, please call the House (507) 282-3955 to schedule a drop-off time and ensure that there is appropriate staff and volunteer support.

If you choose to drop off items at the House, we cannot invite you inside at this time. All items will be dropped off in the front entryway. To help make this process as smooth as possible, please complete the in-kind donation form and/or the financial donation form prior to your visit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT HOLIDAYS AT THE HOUSE

How can I support the Ronald McDonald House?

There are many ways to support the children and families we serve. You can make a financial gift online or order items to be shipped directly to the House from our Amazon Wish List or Target Charity Registry. You can also purchase items from ABC & Toy Zone and leave the items there to be delivered directly to the House. Gift cards to local restaurants, grocery stores, and gas stations are another highly requested item that can be mailed to the House (850 2nd St. SW, Rochester, MN, 55902).

What safety precautions are in place? Do I need to wear a mask?

Only children and families staying at the House, volunteers, and mission-necessary vendors are allowed beyond the front vestibule of the Ronald McDonald House. All people must wear a mask to enter the front vestibule. Please do not come to the House if you are experiencing a fever, cold, or flu-like symptoms, have recently tested positive for COVID-19, have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or have been asked to quarantine.

How do I donate items at the House?

Pull up to the main entry of the House and ring the doorbell located on the pillar to the right of the door. A Ronald McDonald House staff member will greet you and let you into the front vestibule. All people are required to wear a mask inside the front vestibule. Carts will be available for you to use and leave your donation on. You can save time and minimize contact by filling out a donation form ahead of time. Please print one copy for your records and leave another with your donation. If you are unable to print a receipt, one will be available for you to fill out when you arrive.

How do I make a financial contribution to the House?

You can make a financial contribution from home by mailing it to the Ronald McDonald House (850 2nd St. SW, Rochester, MN 55902) or online. You may also pull up to the main entry of the House and ring the doorbell located on the pillar to the right of the door. A Ronald McDonald House staff member will greet you and let you into the front vestibule. All people are required to wear a mask inside the front vestibule. Fill out a donation envelope and drop your gift in the box. You can save time and minimize contact by filling out a donation form ahead of time and printing it off.

Can I get a tour of the Ronald McDonald House?

Unfortunately, the Ronald McDonald House cannot accommodate tours this holiday season. Thank you for your understanding.

When can you accept donations? Do I need to call to schedule my donation?

Donations can be dropped off at the House, seven days a week, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. No notice is necessary. To schedule a large donation, please call 507-282-3955 or email Development Director Jamie Bingner.

Do toys have to be new? Should I wrap them?

To ensure the health and well-being of the children we serve, the House is only able to accept new, unopened, and unwrapped toys.

What are your most-needed items? Are there items you cannot accept?

Can I purchase items for a specific family or meet the family who will be receiving my donation?

To best support the needs of the thousands of families the House serves each year, donors are unable to purchase items for specific children or families. To protect the safety and privacy of guests, the House cannot share personal information about gifts and recipients. I am/my group is interested in volunteering; how can we support the House?

Yes! The Ronald McDonald House is accepting applications for volunteer opportunities, including opportunities to support the House Dinner program. Please contact Volunteer Director Katie Arnott for more information.

I have additional questions, who should I contact?

Please call 507-282-3955 and the House staff will direct your call to the staff member who can best assist you.

Are you still accepting pop tabs? What about pop cans?

The House is accepting pop tabs and they can be dropped off in the plastic bin located outside the House. Pop cans are only accepted during Cans for Kids events.

My organization wants to have a wish list drive or fundraiser for the House; what do I need to know?

We are so grateful that you want to host a fundraiser or wish list drive for the House. Please follow local recommendations to hold your event safely. Thank you for thinking of the children and families at the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester! Following a best practice change to ensure the health and well-being of the children, the House is no longer able to accept the following items:

  • new or used plush items, such as stuffed animals and Beanie Babies
  • used toys
  • used books
  • open scrapbooking and craft supplies
  • unused or leftover fabric
  • furniture
  • artwork
  • medical equipment

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thanks again for thinking of the House!

Due to the health concerns of the children staying at the House, items donated cannot be homemade and need to be brand new, unexpired, and in original packaging. If you are purchasing paper goods, please consider purchasing eco-friendly or biodegradable paper materials.
